Location
Meadowcroft Cottage nestles just off the road before you get into the centre of Thoralby. The village green, with its pub and post office, is just round the corner.
Thoralby is one of the first villages in Bishopdale, which runs south from Wensleydale near Aysgarth.
Directions
As Thoralby lies closest to the A684, which runs through Wensleydale from the A1 to the M6, these directions are based on following the A684.
Leave the A1 at Junction 51, Leeming Bar exit, approximately 12 miles south of Scotch Corner. Follow the A684 in a westerly direction, through Bedale first and then Leyburn. Continue on the A684 through Wensley and West Witton, shortly after which take a left hand turn onto the B6160 signposted for West Burton 1 1/2 miles. Follow this road without actually going into West Burton, the road skirts the main village, until you come to a right hand junction next to Old School Bunkhouse. Take this exit and the cottage will be on your left hand side in about 1/4 mile.
If you are following the A684 from the M6, follow it through Sedbergh, Hawes and then through Aysgarth village. As you leave, take the right turn soon after the ‘George and Dragon Hotel’ towards Thoralby. After a steep and winding descent keep left through the village. Meadowcroft is on your right, soon after taking a sharp right turn.
